English has become the lingua franca of the modern world.  Are you ready for the future ?

As members of the English Department, we hope to help all of our students to become  fluent and confident in English.  In our classes we emphasize :

• active student participation
• reading and discussion of articles, novels, stories, poems ... from Shakespeare  and Hemingway to The New York Times
• listening comprehension and speaking: pair work, group work, songs, classical movies such as Romeo and Juliet and modern movies such as  About A Boy
• writing stories, essays, reports, letters, articles
• intercultural learning: literature, history, sociology and arts of Africa, India, Australia, the U.K., Ireland, the USA, Canada and many other countries
• an open, yet critical attitude
• developing self-confidence as an English speaker !
